Email Campaign Marketing with Autoresponders and Newsletters

When you begin email campaign marketing, you may feel lost. This is normal. Where to begin? The two easiest places to start are with autoresponders and newsletter distribution companies. This is assuming that you have already begun list building and have some names to market to.

Autoresponder Providers

The easiest and most common type of email campaign marketing utilizes autoresponders. These are emails sent automatically when your visitor performs some action that you specify on your website, like filling in the information on your lead capture page.

When you set up your autoresponder, you write each email to be sent and when you want to send them. For example, you may choose to send a prospect several emails the first week he shows interest, then reduce that to once a week and then finally once a month for a couple of months just to remind him of your existance. Or if it is a thank you email, you would set your autoresponder to only send it once when your visitor makes a purchase.

You can set up your autoresponder to automatically send email to your visitors whenever they submit their email address including:

  • Welcome email
  • Acknowledge a request
  • Confirm a purchase
  • Indicate that an item has shipped
  • Thank you note
  • Lead capture marketing

One thing to remember about autoresponders is that your visitors won't be able to respond to them. You should include an email link or phone number so that they can get in touch with you if they need to. You also should personalize your email messages to include each recipients name. This personalized touch can go a long way with your customers. Check with your autoresponder service to determine how to accomplish this. Two of the most popular are Getresponse and Aweber.

Newsletter Providers

You can also invest in a newsletter distribution company to make the process of creating and sending your newsletters, as well as managing your list of contacts, easier. These are one-stop shops that provide you with newsletter templates that you can modify as you please to suit your purpose.

Newsletter distribution companies also provide you with list management and some even allow you to have several lists to email to if you would like to keep them segregated. They also take care of the distribution of your newsletter. In most cases, all you have to do is create the newsletter, schedule when you would like the email sent, to which list, and they take care of the rest and generate a report.

One of the major benefits of using a newsletter distribution company is their ease of use. All you have to do is put some code on your website so that people can sign up to your newsletter from there. You manage your account from a third party website that you log into. Simple.

There are several providers out there to choose from. Here are several examples:

  • constantcontact.com
  • graphicmail.com
  • verticalresponse.com

All you have to do is make your newsletter valuable and the word of mouth generated from your audience will bring you more prospects and visitors. Your email campaign marketing will be a success as long as you target the right audience, give them the right offer, and have a good newsletter design (which includes content and appearance).
