Online Ezine Marketing Guide: Selection, Testing, and Tracking
Online Ezine Marketing includes a lot of steps. You first have to select the proper ezines to target, you have to write the ad, you have to choose the right ad type, test your ads and track them.
I will now tell you a bit about the ladder three. But before I do, I want you to keep something in mind:
Be Patient
Keep this in your mind when you are beginning marketing: most of us do not buy products from an ad we have seen only once. The same is true for your customers. Typically, people need to be exposed to your ad at least 7 times before they buy from you. For this reason, it is important to advertise in the same ezine at least three times to determine the effectiveness of your ads. Ezines also receive new subscribers often so it will be quite some time before an effective ad will go stale. Go ahead and run the effective ad again and again in the same ezine until it no longer generates leads. Then run your ad in another ezine. If the first ezine you ran your ad in was pulling lots of leads for you, you can always return to it in a couple of months and run another ad. Now, lets get into some of the specifics of online ezine marketing.
Choose The Right Ad Type
After you have selected the ezines you will advertise in, you now need to select the type of ad you will run. Here are several of the options in front of you:Solo Ads Solo ads are one of the ways that ezines are better than printed magazines. Solo ads are sent to the ezine's subscriber list all by themselves. They allow you access to all of their subscribers on a one on one basis. The most effective solo ads tell a story. Use your story to sell your product or service to the reader before they click your link at the end. Sponsor Ads Top Sponsor Ads are like being on the first page in a magazine. Middle ads are like being on the middle staple fold in a magazine. To get the best results with this type of ad, do not try to sell your product or service in your ad. Simply create an urge in the reader to click your link to learn more. Classified Ads These ads create curiosity and give you a minimum amount of exposure. Classified ads generally are the least expensive of the three choices. Choose the type of ad that best suits your needs. If you are running an affiliate program and do not have your own website, maybe solo ads are the best choice. If you have your own website and it is effective in converting leads to sales, maybe sponsor ads or classified ads are the best choice. It is up to you to decide.
Test Your Ads
Testing and tweaking your ads is important to maximize their effectiveness. If you run an ad in an ezine and it does not pull like you want it to, the ad may benefit from some reconstruction. You don't want to change the entire ad all at once. Instead, change only the headline, only the body, or only the call to action, but never more than one at a time. Run your ad again with the change and watch for improvement. Continue to improve each element to make a great ad!
Track Your Ads
You must track your ads or you are running blind. Tracking your ads is the only way to know if your online ezine marketing is effective. If you need help with this just Google "ad tracking" and lots of information and services will pop up. Combine these tips with your ezine selection and ad copy to create powerful ads!
