PPC Advertising Gets you Listed On Page One!

PPC advertising can be a useful tool in your overall marketing strategy. It can even get your site listed on the first page of search results if done properly! Now that is power! Let me explain what it is.

Ready?

Here we go!

Basically, PPC (pay-per-click) ads are featured on search engines like google, yahoo, msn and others. Go to google and look at the "sponsored links" off to the right.

See them?

These are PPC ads! As you can see, some are even above the regular search listings (called native listings).

You can also opt to have your ads show up on content pages. This means they will show on web pages that the search engine feels has relevance to what your ad is saying. Good ad copy will work wonders for your ad's click through rate (CTR) which means you will get more clicks for less money!

The concept behind PPC ads is a little complicated. You don't just pay for an ad to be posted at a flat rate. You have to bid on keywords. You are bidding against your competition. The keywords you choose should be relevant to your website or product.

But remember, all you are doing is bidding on the keywords, you don't pay right up front. The beauty of PPC is that you don't pay anything until someone clicks on your ad - and that is why they are called pay-per-click ads! Is up to you to get them to buy what you are selling once they get to your web page.

One of the tricks to PPC advertising is that just because you bid high on a keyword does not mean that you will rank near the top spots - it's a bit more complicated than that.

The search engines also look at the click through rate (CTR) your ads are getting. The combination of CTR and bid price are used to calculate your rank. This is for the consumer. The search engines do not want the guys with the most money to win the top spots

One of the downsides of PPC advertising is you can run up quite a bill if you don't know what you are doing. Some of the smaller search engines don't cost as much because they don't get as much traffic. Google ads can cost quite a bit due to the amount of traffic they generate and the number of advertisers bidding for each keyword. Google ads (Adwords) get quite a bit more exposure. I recommend starting a Google AdWords campaign.

If you are having trouble getting listed in the major search engines, pay per click search engine marketing is a way to get on the first page of search results! Imagine what this can do for your website!

So that is PPC advertising in a nutshell. I hope this was helpful to you.
